東京藝術大学卒業、同大学院修士課程修了。

1987年安宅賞受賞。

1988年福島賞受賞。

小林研一郎指揮・読売日本交響楽団、ドイツの重鎮ハンス・マルティン・シュナイト指揮・神奈川フィルハーモニー管弦楽団、沼尻竜典指揮・トウキョウ・モーツァルト・プレーヤーズと共演。

1990年から2004年まで東京芸術大学管弦楽研究部非常勤講師。

2001年から2008年まで神奈川フィルハーモニー管弦楽団首席奏者。

2009年に（公財）東京フィルハーモニー交響楽団に移籍、首席奏者に就任、現在に至る。

桐朋学園芸術短期大学、洗足学園音楽大学講師。

また、映画音楽（「おくりびと」の録音は記憶に新しい）やコマーシャル、ドラマ等、ジャンルを超えたパフォーマンスで活動中。

また自らの企画「文化人類学講座」は好評を博している。

2019年より長野市芸術館のシーズンプログラム・プロデューサーに就任。

Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts and completed the Master’s Program at its Graduate School.

Received the Ataka Award in 1987.

Received the Fukushima Award in 1988.

Has performed with the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra conducted by Ken-Ichiro Kobayashi, the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by renowned German maestro Hans-Martin Schneidt, and the Tokyo Mozart Players conducted by Ryusuke Numajiri.

Served as a part-time lecturer in the Orchestral Studies Department at Tokyo University of the Arts from 1990 to 2004.

Was Principal Player of the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra from 2001 to 2008.

In 2009, joined the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and was appointed Principal Player, a position held to the present day.

Currently serves as a lecturer at Toho Gakuen College of Drama and Music and Senzoku Gakuen College of Music.

Also active across a wide range of genres, including film music (notably the recording for Departures), commercials, and television dramas.

His self-produced project, the “Cultural Anthropology Lecture Series,” has also received high acclaim.

Since 2019, he has served as Season Program Producer for the Nagano City Arts Center.
